Hello friends! It’s been a while since my last batch of Fresh Donuts. Rather than working on these half-baked newsletters I’ve been busy doing my best impression of a clown – juggling multiple projects while trying to keep grinning and staying light on my feet.
A few weeks ago I laid eyes on an actual copy of my debut book and met with my editor and the team over at Holiday House, then celebrated with my loved one and some pizza after getting tipsy on a cocktail. Duck and Cat Ride the Riverboat comes out in less than two months!
Well, anyway, I just keep putting one foot in front of the other and hope to get somewhere eventually - kind of like these geese…
OK, maybe not like geese… they’re a bit ornery, even for my standards. I always said ducks are my spirit animals anyway, they seem cheery and contented most of the time. Plus, I do love bread.
Moving right along, I’ve always been a day dreamer, it’s probably my greatest skill – it was certainly an asset in the long years of schooling and later when I entered the workforce and was stacking potatoes or cleaning floors or whatever – an active imagination always helped to keep my sanity and still does. Now my hardest work is often sitting at the kitchen table looking like I’m not doing anything at all, when in reality I’m thinking thoughts like this…
Well, that just about wraps up this batch of Fresh Donuts. I’m ever grateful to have you tuning in and hopefully enjoying these little flights of fancy. Get out there and sniff some lilacs and share some donuts with the ones you love.
Until next time, hope there’s blue skies and the sun’s smiling down on you! - Drew P
